Mycroft felt a little bad as he hadn't heard him at the door.
He might have been there for quite awhile seeing as My had been in his study in his city flat.
He wandered over and opened it and got the meanest look for such a lack of respect.
"Terribly sorry Montmorency."
He got no response and he shut the door behind him and he simply sauntered past Holmes.
Holmes watched him awhile and then returned to the bedroom to fetch his laptop and then sat in his usual seat in the living room.
Montmorency occasionally simply turned up and stayed awhile before disappearing again, but Mycroft always thought of him as his.
Barely a few minutes later Montmorency managed to skilfully sneak under Mycroft's arm and replace the laptop on his lap, draping over him on his back. Mycroft looked down in mild amusement.
"You are a terrible distraction, I hope you know that."
Montmorency pawed at him lightly and wriggled, begging for attention that Mycroft was all too happy to give.
"You are simply terrible." He repeated happily and stroked the sleek, green-eyed tuxedo cat and smiled as it started to purr loudly and appreciatively.
